Great success for Wessex DAF
In the UK a competition was held in January for the top 16 Master Technicians. Tom Yelland from Wessex DAF was identified as the winner and chosen to represent the UK in the European competition. Other countries also selected their candidates from local competitions
Tom is an ex DAF Apprentice who graduated from the programme in 2008. During the three year programme Tom was runner up twice and the winner once in the annual Apprentice of the Year competition.
Tom, along with Service Manager Nick Stewart, travelled to Holland this week for the competition which was held in the DAF Factory exhibition hall.
After a gruelling day, encompassing over 5 hours of practical and theory tests, an evening celebration dinner was held in the DAF museum.
We are delighted to announce that Tom finished in a fantastic second place only beaten narrowly by the Dutch technician.
Tom’s was presented with a Home Cinema including 3D television and surround system by Johan Drenth the After Sales Director of DAF trucks NV.
